About Us

Our journey with Border Terriers ignited with Scottey, our beloved first Border, in 2000. What began as an interest evolved into our own kennel, British Cooper, dedicated to this remarkable breed.

Before delving into our story, we owe immense gratitude to three exceptional individuals: Loes Scheers, Margot Engelen of ‘Mac Oaks Pride,’ and Mrs. Erica Bons-De Wever. Their mentorship and insight into Border Terriers shaped our path profoundly. Without their guidance, our achievements wouldn’t have been possible.

At the heart of British Cooper is our unwavering commitment to enhancing the Border Terrier breed. For over two decades, we've pursued our vision while honoring the British bloodlines, akin to those preserved by Loes Scheers at Mac Oaks Pride.

Both of us have been surrounded by dogs since childhood, shaping our lives. Our early companions ranged from mixed breeds to a small, curly-haired Boomer and two incredibly astute Dobermans. The Boomer was affectionate yet had a fiery temperament, while the Dobermans were dedicated, diligent partners whom we trained intensively at a professional level.

Hilde, with her skillful hands, grooms all our dogs and has educated numerous new dog owners on the art of Border Terrier trimming. Meanwhile, Kees thrives outdoors, engaging in Obedience, Flyball, and Agility training with our Borders, leveraging his role as a Certified Canine Instructor to teach classes.

We're often present at various dog shows in The Netherlands and abroad, with Crufts standing out as a highlight in our calendar. Our passion for Border Terriers propels us across these events, sharing our dedication to this extraordinary breed.
